The Tenets of Osteopathic Medicine express the philosophy of what I do.
- The body is a unit and the person is a unit of body, mind, and spirit.
- The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing, and health maintenance.
- Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated.
- Rational treatment is based upon an understanding of the basic principles of body unity, self-regulation, and the interrelationship of structure and function.
Techniques I Use
Osteopathy in the Cranial Field
A refined approach to osteopathy using a highly trained sense of touch to feel subtle changes of tension in the whole body, including the anatomy and physiology of the head.
Myofascial Release
Releases tension in the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding and connecting muscles and organs throughout the body.
Muscle Energy
Uses the patient’s own gentle muscle contractions to correct joint restrictions and improve alignment.
Visceral Manipulation
Addresses the mobility of internal organs and their connective tissue attachments based on embryologic development.
Balanced Ligamentous Tension
Holds a restricted joint or tissue in its natural position of ease, allowing the body’s own mechanisms to complete the correction.
Counterstrain
A passive technique where the body is held in a position of comfort to relieve tenderpoints and release tension patterns.
Articulatory Techniques
Moves a joint through its full range of motion to resolve restrictions and improve mobility.
Lymphatic Techniques
Improve lymphatic movement to reduce swelling and support immune function.
